Yin Yoga in Marin County

Slow Down and Restore: Yin Yoga in Marin

In a world that constantly asks us to do more and move faster, yin yoga offers a radical invitation to slow down. This gentle, restorative practice balances the "yang" energy of being active with necessary rest and intentional pause, creating space for your body and mind to unwind and discover your innate sense of calm. Yin is a very slow practice where we hold poses for approximately two to seven minutes, mostly seated or lying down with props for support, allowing gravity to help your body release stored tension over time. The beauty of yin lies in these longer holds, where we observe how the body gradually opens and the mind settles the more we simply rest in one spot. I teach weekly yin classes at the Bay Club Marin in Corte Madera on Sundays, inviting you to let go of the week's demands and restore balance. I also offer private one-on-one yin sessions that blend restful, long-held poses with hands-on assisted stretching and massage, creating a profoundly nurturing experience tailored entirely to your needs.

Testimonials

At 43, I’ve had ongoing leg muscle issues, but Katherine’s yoga sessions have really helped. She knew exactly how to target the problem areas and guide me through movements that actually made a difference. I’m finally feeling stronger and more balanced.

Katherine

I have participated in yoga sessions while nursing a knee injury and Katherine been very good at providing a pace I can handle and been accommodating to what I can and can't do movement-wise.

Erica

Katherine is a fantastic yoga teacher. I'm not very flexible so I sometimes find yoga difficult/intimidating and Katherine did a great job making me feel welcome and making the class feel accessible.

Zara

Katherine’s yoga class is very unique and special. I have gone to many yoga classes and have only found two instructors, and Katherine is one of them, that I truly enjoy the entire class from beginning to end. She begins with the breathe and setting an intention and ends with a thoughtful quote. She’s one of a kind!
